What would you do if you met a creature from another planet?
Would you become take them in? Would you be afraid? Would you become best friends?
Bad Robot is an improv show created for the whole family to enjoy, inspired by films like The Iron Giant, E.T. and Lilo & Stitch!
Using audience suggestions we’ll create an original story from scratch about a friend from outerspace who lands on Earth. The kids in the audience will shape the story, tell us where we go and who we’ll see and even get a chance to come on stage!
“I want kids to see themselves on stage with all their big feelings!” says co-director Ben Blattberg.
Will we understand our new alien friend? Maybe they have the same kinds of problems we have: self-doubt, loneliness, fear. With a little understanding we can build a bridge between our species and theirs and make a new best friend!

About The Show!
Every Sunday at Hideout Kids, improvisors act silly, kids laugh loudly, and parents watch happily as a new and unique story unfolds biased on the suggestions of the kids in the audience. Some of our favorite audience quotes are:
“That was so much fun!” – Kid.
“Thanks, we’ll be back next week.” – Grown-up
“I laughed so hard my sides hurt!” – Kid
“You all are amazing!” – Grown-up.
Hideout Kids (formerly The Flying Theater Machine) has been tickling the funny bones of Austin Children since 2006. “I created [the show] as a way to bring improvisation to kids in Austin,” says Hideout Owner Jessica Arjet. “Kids gain confidence from jumping on stage, and parents get to see their children in a positive light. Laughter brings people together, so what could be better than offering a way for families to laugh together?”
