Saturday Afternoon Workshop (2hrs)
Deep Spacework
with Teresa Stranahan
We will delve into tips and techniques you can put into your tool belt for creating convincing and consistent space work that will give a boost to your performance. We’ll discuss how space work can be used to inform your character and give shape to your objective, and work through how to make objects come to life onstage even when they’re not in existence by dabbling in mindfulness, muscle memory, and good old fashioned make-believe.
This class is open to graduates of Level One or above.
Saturday, June 6, 12-2pm (pay what you can $22/$30/$45) **Class held at the Hideout Annex (5555 N Lamar Blvd B103)
Bio:
Teresa Stranahan has a BA in theatre from Texas Tech University. She has been improvising since 2016 when she and four of her friends would jam in their living rooms for hours into the night over pizza. She found her improv home in 2017 at Beta Theatre in Houston where she became a teacher, production manager, and a core member of the house troupe, MAX. She stayed with MAX till 2019, and continued to be a part of the management team until May of 2020. She returned to improv, performance, and production after starting classes in 2024 at The Hideout. Teresa sees improv as her constant and necessary reminder to not take life too seriously as she prefers to be an altogether unserious person who sometimes gets seriously into being silly.
