Character Master Class (8-week series)
with a different Hideout instructor every week

This improv workshop will enrich your Character tool belt in EIGHT different (and possibly contradictory!) directions over eight weeks. Each week is a unique deep dive on how to build, sustain and fully inhabit Characters in your improv with a different Hideout instructor.

9/23 – Margaret Hunsicker – All Villains All The Time
You love to hate ‘em! Learn how to instantly create bozos that make the blood boil, and find the fun in dysfunctional.

9/30 – Mickey May – Not So Funny
Stop chasing laughs, start chasing story. Build characters that can live beyond shortform comedy.

10/07 – Andy Crouch – Teach Us Your Regional Accent
The ONE accent that lives in your bones (and maybe comes out when you’re a little bit tipsy) is the regional accent from where you grew up. Make your peace with it, make the most of it, and teach the rest of us how to try it on as well.

10/14 – Connor MacDonald – Topic TBA

10/21 – Sid Desai- Topic TBA

11/4 – Shane Gannaway – Slow, Low, and Grounded
Dare to slow down and create a character that has the audience interested and leaning in; Shane will show you how to feel in control without a bunch of excess noise and movement.

11/11 – Danielle DaVerona – Big & Believable
It’s fun to play big, and it’s fun to play bold, but often big characters can feel hollow or more like a caricature…Danielle is here to help to help you ground your big characters in emotional connection and truthful details.

This class is open to graduates of Level Three and above.
