Saturday Afternoon Workshop (2.5hrs)
Improvised RomCom
with Sophie Hard

Dive into the heart of the ”RomCom” and learn the essential beats that make romantic comedies relevant to all genres of Improv. From the initial spark of the meet- cute to the turning point where “all is lost”, this workshop will explore the keys to building authentic romantic moments on stage. Whether you’re new to Improv or an experienced performer, this workshop will give you tools to bring romance into any genre of improv (You can ditch this last sentence if it needs to be shorter)
Participants should be comfortable with eye contact, light hand touching (maximum 5 seconds), and have completed Level Two at any improv theater.

Bio:

Sophie Hard is from Northern California and grew up unable to ask a question in class without her face turning red. She moved to Los Angeles after college and took an improv class hoping that she could learn to be funny. After going through Second City’s program in 2015, she joined Impro Theatre’s professional conservatory, performing genres from Tennessee Williams to Jane Austen. She now directs and performs with Jane Austin Improv, winner of a B. Iden Payne award and 2025 Austin Chronicle “Best Comedy Troupe” nominee. Sophie has performed internationally and around the country with Jane Austin Improv, including SF Sketch Fest and Impro Amsterdam.
