Stephanie Rae Workshops

Stephanie Rae is the founder of the Black Improv Alliance and a one-woman improv force of nature.

We’re hosting Stephanie during our November BIPOC improv celebration for two workshops on Saturday and shows on Friday and Saturday night.

The Power of Specificity
Nov 23rd Saturday Morning Workshop (2.5 hrs total)

This is a red ball. But is it a glittering, diamond-encrusted disco ball? Or is it a worn down, quarter-sized rubber ball? The details you add to your dialogue can make or break a scene or set, so we’re going to build your specificity muscles with mental exercises. Then, we’ll put these skills to the test with improv comedy based on true stories. You won’t just have fun being specific. You’ll have more fun than a thirty-six-year-old candy connoisseur touring Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. See what I did there?

10am-12:30pm on Saturday, Nov 2 (pay what you can $45/55/75)
**This workshop is open to all experience levels.

Find Your Flow: A Freestyle Rap Workshop for Everyone
Nov 23rd Saturday Afternoon Workshop (2.5 hrs total)

Whether you’re brand new to the mic or an experienced MC, you’ve got something unique to bring to the stage and we wanna hear all about it! We’ll cover different methods for building a verse, practice rapping from a place of authenticity, rap in scenes, and create larger-than-life rap personas. If you’ve ever wanted to learn and practice freestyle rap in an encouraging environment, then push past your fear of failure and let’s find your flow!

2-4:30pm on Saturday, Nov 2 (pay what you can $45/55/75)
**Six months improv experience required (or Hideout graduates of Level 3)
