Join The Award-Winning Hideout Theatre and their talented improvisers for the summer debut of Manhattan Stories: Improv in the Style of Woody Allen. Celebrating his forty plus years of film-making, the production brings the unique world-view of Woody Allen to life in this live, one-of-a-kind, improvised theatrical event.
Drawing inspiration from Allen’s films such as Hannah and Her Sisters & Annie Hall, Manhattan Stories explores both the comedy and drama in dysfunctional relationships, psychoanalytical insights, and unique and neurotic characters trying to find happiness in a complicated world.
A cast of ten improvisers create a tale centered around a group of erudite New Yorkers struggling to find meaning in their relationships, careers, and states of existence. We will follow characters, fleshed out before your eyes, as their perspectives influence one another. Lovers will find new lovers. Artist will struggle with their careers. Friends will discuss Nietzsche while waiting in line for a dry sandwich. Love will blossom and existence will be justified, if only for a moment.
Hosted by Woody Allen himself (played by Jon Bolden).
That was AMAZING! Like … oh my GOD! WOW! INCREDIBLE! Just INCREDIBLE!
