Using the Whole Enchilada in Your Improv Workshop
with Tex-Mex Specials
Saturday, November 18, noon-2:30pm (2.5 hours)
Our families, upbringings, and cultures have wonderful seeds of experience that can color our characters and our scenes. We don’t have to leave our culture in the greenroom before we hit the stage. This workshop will focus on developing characters that are grounded in our cultural dialogue, mannerisms and communities. When we do this, our scenes are richer, deeper and express more of who we are. Our exercises will focus on how to connect our diverse backgrounds to our characters on stage.
All people, levels and abilities are welcome.
This workshop is led by the Tex-Mex Specials which consist of several members of one of Austin’s longest-running POC improv group, Shades of Brown. Their culturally authentic improv is a signature style they’ve perfected on stages in Austin and around the country over the last decade
$25-59 (pay-what-you-can) / 2.5 hours / Limited Space / Class is held at the Hideout Theatre downtown
