The Improv of Being Earnest

The Improv of Being Earnest with Sid Desai
Saturday, May 18, 3-5:30pm

Playing earnest characters in improv is often the key to building a connection with the audience and your scene partners. This workshop is about identifying the earnest moments in improv and learning how to make more meaningful choices for their characters. These skills are especially important for narrative improv, but they also apply to short form and montage. In the workshop, students will practice creating engaging characters and playing grounded scenes. The workshop is suitable for students who have completed at least Hideout Level 3 or equivalent experience.

Sid Desai has been doing improv since 2015, and is currently a teacher at the Hideout Theatre. They have been a part of Gigglepants and the B. Iden Payne Award winning, Butterfly Defect. At the Hideout, they’ve directed Swashbuckled, Killertown, and most recently, The Bollywood Improv Show. They also won a Maestro once.
